Musir is by Redoute’s Choice out of Dizzy De Lago (by Encosta De Lago). Whilst Dizzy De Lago did not win, she did finish second in the Listed Dequetteville Stakes as a two year in a racing career that only totalled three starts. Musir was offered at the 2008 Inglis Australian Easter Sale by Coolmore on behalf of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum. Musir, is Dizzy De Lago’s first foal and was passed in at AU$900,000 at the sale and subsequently sent to South Africa to race in the care of Mike De Kock. The combination of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum and Mike De Kock has not only had success in South Africa but has also tasted success internationally with Eagle Mountain and Archipenko. Musir was one of two horses that De Kock saddled in the race and bolted in by 3,50 lengths after settling midfield in the run. He turned the tables on one of De Kock’s other runners, Solid Choice, who finished fourth and like Musir, is also owned by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum and is also by Redoute’s Choice. Solid Choice is out of Venetian Pride (by Gone West) and was also offered at the 2008 Inglis Australian Easter Sale by Coolmore on behalf of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum and was passed in at AU$290,000. The finish of the race capped a good race for Australian breds as the third of three Australian breds in the field finished third – this was Exclaim’N’Exceed. Exclaim’N’Exceed is owned by Markus & Ingrid Jooste and trained by Charlie Laird who have been great supporters of Australian sales in recent years. Sired by Exceed and Excel out of Punchess (by Two Punch), Exclaim’N’Exceed was purchased from local breeder Reg Kemister by Laird on behalf of Markus Jooste at the 2008 Magic Millions sale for AU$580,000.
